By FOX 47 News. CREATED Sep 25, 2012

SUMMIT TWP, JACKSON CO. - A credit union is robbed by a masked man Tuesday morning in Jackson County. Police suspect the thief may be responsible for two other recent bank robberies in the county, one last week.

At 9:19am Jackson County Sheriff's deputies were called to a report of an armed robbery at the Jackson City County Credit Union at 2320 Francis Street in Summit Township. A man in a costume mask entered the credit union and demanded money from a clerk.

He indicated he had a gun, but no gun was seen. The clerk complied. The robber left out the front door. He was seen getting into a white sedan. The car is described as a white Oldsmobile Alero or Aurora, but may be a Ford Taurus. He was last seen heading north toward the city.

Detectives describe the suspect as a male, 5'8"- 5"11", with a medium build. He was wearing a Halloween type mask with a cigarette sticking out of the mouth. The picture is not great but if anyone recognizes the clothing or the mask please contact Detective Sullivan at 517 768-7932. There is a $2,000 reward being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.

No one was hurt in the robbery.

Investigators are looking into the possibility that this is the same man who robbed the Comerica bank in Spring Arbor on September 21 and the Aeroquip Credit Union in Blackman Township on August 8. In each a case a costume-type mask was used. In the earlier robberies the thief left in a burgundy or purple car, but in this was a white car.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. 517-768-7901.
