Lansing Warns: No Parking 2-5AM

CREATED Feb. 23, 2012

FROM THE OFFICER OF THE MAYOR OF THE CITY OF LANSING:
Winter Storm Warning: Citizens Urged to Keep Parked Vehicles
Off City Streets Overnight to Aid Plowing Operations

Violators of 2AM-5AM Parking Ban May Be Towed At Their Own Expense

(LANSING) - With a significant winter storm event projected for the Lansing area tonight, the City of Lansing reminds Lansing residents to keep parked vehicles off city streets overnight to aid plowing operations. The city’s ordinance prohibiting on-street parking between 2AM and 5AM will be enforced and vehicles that interfere with plowing operations may be towed at the owner’s expense.

Public Service Director Chad Gamble said city plows will be operating at maximum capacity beginning early tomorrow morning and will continue to work around-the-clock until city streets are cleared. The first priority will be to keep major streets like Cedar, Saginaw and MLK open to traffic, and to support critical public safety operations by the police and fire departments. He added that with freezing temperatures expected overnight motorists should be extra cautious as road conditions will likely be hazardous late tonight and tomorrow morning.

For the duration of the storm event and cleanup, updated information will be available through the NIXLE text alert system (www.nixle.com). If needed, Emergency Operations may also use the CodeRed landline notification system to issue updates concerning street clearing, government service closures and other critical public safety information.
