Greater Lansing Housing Coalition 2013 Tour to Feature Frank Lloyd Wright
Lansing, Mich—The Greater Lansing Housing Coalition (GHLC) is pleased to announce that their 2013 Home Tour, offered in partnership with the Junior League of Lansing (JLL), will feature the Frank Lloyd Wright homes located in Okemos on Sunday, September 15 from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm. The public is invited to this rare event to view homes designed by America’s most famous Architect. The homes on the tour include the Erling Brauner House, the Goetsch-Winkler House, and the Schaberg house. The homes in Okemos, all built in the years from 1940 to 1950 are styled “Usonian Houses,” and are considered to represent a new model for American single-family homes, allowing clients to build unique, modest homes for relatively low cost.
“This is a unique opportunity for our community. Frank Lloyd Wright homes are symbolic of 20th century American Architecture.” said GLHC Executive Director Katherine Draper. “As private homes, this may be a once-in-a-lifetime event that people who love great architecture won’t want to miss. And the funds raised through this event will help GLHC and JLL fulfill their community engagement missions.” JLL President Ann Vogelsang continued: “As a group of women dedicated to building a better community, the Junior League of Lansing is delighted to be part of the Greater Lansing Housing Coalition 2013 Home Tour. Proceeds from the tour will help JLL support its Mission and continue to help families and children at risk in the Lansing area.”
