UPDATE: Dewitt Teen's Shopping Spree Wish Granted by Make-A-Wish Michigan

UPDATE: Earlier this May, Emma Muldoon, an 18-year-old of Dewitt, Michigan, who was diagnosed with Lymphoma, had her wish granted by Make-A-Wish Michigan.

Emma's wish was for a shopping spree at IKEA in Canton, Michigan.

Make-A-Wish Michigan and IKEA partnered to grant Emma's wish to purchase furniture and accessories for her room. Emma's idea was to transform her room at home into an apartment style space. With the help of the IKEA team and IKEA designer, Harmony Watson, Emma's vision was realized. Emma aimed for a sophisticated and classic style, with a color palette of primarily blacks and whites, and using red as an accent color.

Several weeks later, the assembly of Emma's room is complete. Her room is equipped with a loft-style bed, sofa, desk and much more! Her room has been transformed from ordinary to extraordinary. Peering into the space, it feels as if you have been transported to a college dorm room; but, this is Emma's room. Special and unique, she now has a place of her own.

Since 1984, Make-A-Wish Michigan has granted more than 7,000 wishes, and this year alone their goal is to reach 400 kids--that's more than one child per day. To find out more about Make-A-Wish and how you can donate or volunteer, visit wishmich.org.

IKEA covered the cost of her furniture, the delivery fee, and provided an IKEA designer to help create her special space.

"Emma's wish was unique in the fact that she wanted a shopping spree at IKEA of Canton. We get a lot of shopping sprees, but Emma's was particular in that she wanted to come to IKEA to make her room into an apartment-style," said Leah Borst, Make-A-Wish Michigan, Director of Communications.

On Saturday, May 25th, Emma arrived in Canton, Michigan at IKEA in style. Rolling up to the front doors in a limousine, and accompanied by her two aunts, Make-A-Wish and IKEA welcomed Emma with open arms.

"Emma had a vision for her room today, and what Emma wants, Emma gets," noted Harmony Watson, IKEA designer.

After consulting with the designer, Emma and her entourage began the shopping spree. During the entire process, a smile never left Emma's face.

Her brand new room is expected to arrive and be assembled by the IKEA team on Thursday, June 6th.
