UPDATE: FIRST ON FOX: Sticky Situation on I-96 Off-Ramp

UPDATE-A semi carrying paint supplies tipped over on an off-ramp along I-96 in Eaton County Tuesday morning. The accident happened around 5 A.M. The Eaton County Sheriff's Office says the truck driver was driving westbound along I-96, when he fell asleep at the wheel and hit the bridge. The truck then drove onto the ramp to eastbound I-496 and tipped onto its side.

The driver's wife was sleeping the cab. Both were taken to Sparrow Hospital with minor injuries.

The truck was hauling paint, and paint thinner, as well as what the sheriff's office describes as an unknown, thicker substance. Crews have been working through the morning and into the afternoon to clean up those substances, as well as right the truck and tow it away. They sheriff's office estimates the ramp will re-open at about 3 P.M.

This accident led to a second accident hours later. The sheriff's office reports that at 9:22 A.M. a driver was watching the crash activity and rear-ended a second car. Three people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
