New Playground Opens for Kids with Special Needs

There's a brand new playground at a school for kids with disabilities. Staff at the Heartwood School in Mason showed it off Monday. The facility is completely fenced in, and gives kids a safe place to play and develop their physical abilities. Much of the money raised to build the playground came from the family of a former student who died.

"Christopher's grandfather is largely responsible for the playground and the funding for it," said Chris Hepworth, father of Christopher Hepworth, who attended the school. "We're here today to dedicate this wonderful playground. He loved playing outside and swinging and was a very active and athletic young man."

The Hepworth family is one of two who contributed money to the project. The school also received a $5,000 grant from Lowe's.
