It looks like the ball may be in play for the USA to host World Cup 2022 after all.
ESPN's Jorge Ramos tweeted in Spanish that FIFA organizers have told US Soccer to be ready to create an organizing committee to host the 2022 World Cup.
The nation of Qatar has reportedly used slave labor to build its World Cup stadiums at a cost much greater than the U.S. would have if it was the initial host, plus Qatar's weather (about 120 degrees in summer) could set up a late fall World Cup directly against many domestic soccer league's schedules.
Dozens of American cities could be considered potential host sites. At least eight stadiums would be needed, and most if not all would be World Cup-ready today.
